Dubai may be as good as Riyadh, but it is not quite as nice as Dalian.
The city has come runner-up is the International Awards for Livable Communities.
It had been entered in the category of cities with more than 750,000 people.
Dubai won bronze along with Riyadh while Dalian, in China, took gold.
The awards are endorsed by the United Nations.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, the Director General of Dubai Municipality, said it is the world’s only competition for local communities, focusing on environmental management and the creation of active vibrant communities.
“We are honoured to win this prestigious award,” he added.
The judging criteria are enhancement of the landscape, environmentally sensitive practices, community sustainability, healthy lifestyles and planning for the future.
