The grandson is contesting the report that Stalin personally signed execution orders for thousands of Soviet and foreign citizens.

Russia and China looked to steady their close but imbalanced relationship with Putin ushering through trade deals said to be worth $3.5 billion, including a framework agreement on the supply of Russian gas from state-run Gazprom to China.
